I love to work out because of all the psychological and physical benefits it provides. I instantly feel more confident, happier, and more accomplished after a good workout! My workouts consist of activities that typically center around a combination of lifting and running, but I have decided to change things up a little bit! I want to talk to you about why I switched up my fitness routine this month.
Have you ever felt like you were in a rut? Yeah well, recently that has been me when it comes to the gym! A place that typically makes me feel at home has been making me feel discouraged and down than uplifted.
“A place that typically makes me feel at home has been making me feel discouraged and down more than uplifted.”
This has been due to several things, the main one being that I cannot seem to find consistency in my schedule. I work with children during my day job, which has left my immune system soooo down. It feels like I have been under the weather more than I have been healthy over the past several months.
I seem to consistently be in a place where I am starting to work out (for two weeks), I get sick (which always seems to turn into a 4 week long battle with a sinus infection, just to be healthy and work out for two weeks and complete the cycle again.
“To be completely honest, this cycle has left me feeling more trapped in my workout routine than liberated and happy.”
I knew I needed to switch something up, so I did something crazy: and I decided to get a month-long subscription to a local Yoga Studio.

- Working Out Feels Like A Drag | I know that pushing yourself physically isn’t always “fun”, but if you’re dreading it girl, there’s a problem! You need to decide what will bring the fun back into your workout routine (be it a new class, new schedule, new routine, etc.)
- You’re Having Trouble Staying Consistent | You need to look deep down and try to solve the why to this problem. Is it because your current routine requires too much time? Is it because your current routine requires too much thought? Figure out your “why” and determine a solution from it!
- You Want To Try Something New | Girl, do what you want! Explore! Try new things! That’s the fun of a fitness routine – it’s all yours!
I hope this post really helps you to determine where you are struggling fitness-wise! Even if it just makes you reflect on your current routine, reflection is necessary for progress! You don’t have to switch up your fitness routine if you’re battling with any of the above items, but it may help you reach your goals by keeping you more motivated!
